I am so thrilled to be sharing with you this Thursday a FREE offering called the Sacred Rebel Event where I will share tools and practices that I have needed desperately for myself to break out of my good girl molds.
Here are more of the details:
May 23 from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm central I am offering a FREE SACRED REBEL event for women, where we will dive into expression, learning practices to bring radical self-love to the parts that we have been taught are “bad, dirty, or sinful”. Especially to those parts! We will learn emotional release techniques to move stuck and frozen emotions through your body. Nervous system healing tools and more! I would be so honored to have you join us!
I know now why but none of this was conscious at the time. I was hard-wired for it because of my upbringing. Most days when I came home from school my mom would say,” What did they say about you today? Did they say how pretty you were? What did they say about your outfit?” I learned that every bit of my worth was what the “right” people had to say about me.
I remember about a year into my marriage, my ex-husband came home from coffee with a friend, and I said, “Did y'all talk about me? What did y'all say about me?” Exacerbated he said, “No! We did not talk about you! I do not like it when you ask me that! It makes everything about you!” I had no idea I was carrying on what my mom had said to me, to my ex-husband!
My entire identity became the approval of others. If I thought I had their approval, I felt ok for a short time, if I did not think I had it, I felt DEVASTATED!!!!
This lives in our cells. We inherit so many of these stories and then believe they are our stories. So many of the critical and harsh words we tell ourselves were never ours to begin with. Learning tools to commune with those parts, feel them in our body, love on them, and tell them a truer story is the greatest gift we can offer our bodies and hearts.
There are people that will never see us for who we truly are and that is ok! Those people usually do not know who they are and anything outside of the “norm” can feel like a threat to their way of being. And we mock what we don't understand.
We made fun of people way less weird than I am growing up most nights at our dining table. I was a part of it. I didn't know anything different! It can feel terrifying to break out of the cultural molds that brought us belonging and I truly believe that the greatest gift you can offer this world is showing up as your fully expressed self.
Take up as much space as you want. Be as big and bold as you want. Speak your mind. Hold your boundaries. Say no even when it may offend people. This takes practice and self-compassion.
I love you, I love us! Every part of you belongs here, Ruthie
