Hi beautiful friends, this is my very first time making a video for Substack but to be really honest, I’d rather talk than write any day of the week, so I’m giving this a shot!
I have a feeling a lot of the people who follow along with my work tend to be highly sensitive, feeling, empathic beings. This week I heard Alanis Morissette on the You Can Do Hard Things podcast. I’ve liked her since I was in 10th grade when Jagged Little Pill came out but I’ve grown to CHERISH her these past 5 years as I’ve learned more about her wholeness journey. Her wisdom and embodied knowledge blows me away! I listened to this episode and cried my eyes out feeling like someone put into words my experience of being a human.
In the video I share my experience of going from thinking I was an Enneagram 7 extrovert and not knowing I was an HSP or an off-the-charts empath. I don’t believe we have to over identify with these parts of us but I do believe these are super helpful tools to help us understand ourselves better.
Here are some great resources on these topics. My favorite podcast on the Enneagram is by Sleeping At Last who wrote a song for each number and did a podcast explaining it. (This is how I realized I was a 4!)

I am obsessed with Internal Family Systems and this book No Bad Parts written by its creator has Alanis as the forward. I love her heart and her mind so so much.
I love you all and all your big feelings, sensitivities and parts,
love Ruthie
