What You Believe is What You See
From Limiting Beliefs to Limitless Possibilities
Hi beautiful friends, I hope this finds you so well. I am coming off a whirlwind week. Two Fridays ago my friend Zach asked if he could stay with Eric and me because he was coming to town Sunday for a conference. It turns out the conference was for Speakers called Impact Eleven. I instantly cleared my schedule with clients for the coming Monday and Tuesday as a signal to the universe that if this is for me, I am going to make myself available. I had a call on Saturday with a wonderful man named Matt, I signed up and was at the conference Sunday-Tuesday.
Here is what is wild, I have really felt called to step back into speaking again. I love it so much, it is where I feel the most flow state I have ever known. In so many of my meditations, I am feeling called to close out some chapters to make room for speaking again. During COVID, my book tour and all my speaking jobs got canceled. I was home for the longest I had been in years and I started feeling so much better. My physical and mental health was improving by being still, going to the woods every day, doing tea ceremonies every day, quitting drinking and so much more. I felt so much better!
I thought I needed to stop traveling so much and take better care of myself so I got off the speaking circuit. I have also changed drastically in the past 5 years. I used to speak primarily about my pain story but now I love talking about all that pain has invited me into, so I feel like it is time to start sharing this updated message.
So, very last minute, I signed up for a year-long program to get coached by some of the best speakers in the world. To learn from people who are way better than me and have lots more experience speaking. I even upgraded my package at the end of the conference because I was SO blown away by what I saw and experienced. Some of the best speakers in the world are a part of this community and continue to be coached by these GENIUS speakers and coaches. I felt like I was watching people in their zone of genius and I walked away so inspired.
I am also headed to Portland this Wednesday to do a two-day intensive with my friend Liz Bohannan. We met while speaking at a conference together in 2018 and have since spoken at several others and have become dear friends. She is truly one of the most hilarious, magical, badass businesswomen I know. I saw in her stories that she was offering 2-day business intensives and I believe in her and her work so deeply that I instantly signed up to get clarity around what I am ready to step into with my work. I can't wait to share what I learned on the other side!
I told Eric I was investing in myself and my business in bigger ways than I ever had before. I am really betting on myself. I have played small in a lot of ways and told myself lack stories of what I can't handle because of my body and high sensitivities. I am choosing to not tell those stories anymore. I am taking risks and scaring the shit out of myself financially and emotionally but it also feels SO RIGHT. There is so much I want to share with the world. With you. I am ready to step into my own zone of genius (like Gay Hendrix talks about in The Big Leap) and stop holding myself back.
I have been practicing examining my thoughts and more often than not they are pretty limiting. When I hear myself say something limiting I practice saying the positive opposite of it and feeling the feeling of the positive opposite in my body. For example: Going back to the limiting story I shared earlier, “I am too sensitive and my body can't handle traveling and speaking in front of so many people” I will then notice the story and imagine myself feeling amazing on stage. Fully in my body, I imagine the dress I am wearing, seeing Eric in the front row. I imagine people feeling God’s love being mirrored to them and that they can feel so much love for themselves in their hearts. I imagine how I am feeling on that stage, being used by God in that way. I feel expansive, I feel in flow, I feel so ALIVE, I feel so much gratitude for the opportunity. I feel so much love. And then I tell myself the positive opposite of my lack story. “My sensitivity is my superpower, I am given all I need in every moment to fully show up, I feel so amazing and grounded in my body”
As I have been practicing this more and more I am seeing little miracles and doors open for me to get more experience speaking and even had a speaking job for March come through 3 days ago!!!
At one point during the last day of the conference, I was feeling pretty exhausted and I asked my new friend Rosie if I could go lay down in her room for 30 minutes. I listened to Abundant Ever After by Cathy Heller, rested, did breathing exercises, did a nervous system practice, and was able to go back feeling so much more refreshed. I had a conversation with the universe that if there was someone I was supposed to meet, to help facilitate that opportunity for me to take the next right step. Up to that point, I had just been listening. I had not raised my hand once, I was feeling a bit introverted. I was one of the only women not in professional clothing and feeling a bit out of place but also super called to be there. I had a limiting story that no one there had seen my personality because I had been sitting back just observing.
At the very end (I mean the last 5 minutes of the conference) they opened the floor for people to give closing remarks. I was the second to last person to stand up and I honestly do not remember everything I said. I spoke for a few minutes about my experience and was able to be my silly self and show my personality and gratitude. When it was over I went up to one of the founders of Impact Eleven and told him how inspired I was watching him coach people. It was one of the most brilliant things I have ever seen. I told him I was upping my membership to be coached by him. He then told me that he wasn't one of the coaches but that if I emailed him he wanted to coach me!!! I then had the three other hosts find me to talk to me after and how they were excited to work with me and encouraged me so so much.
I felt these massive winks from the universe telling me I was on the right path. I don't have to dress like everyone else, I can completely be myself. Introverted, in my jeans, silly, and not say anything until the final few minutes and trust that I will be completely taken care of and meet exactly who I am meant to meet if I stay open and curious and totally my authentic self. It was truly amazing! I am intentionally putting myself around people who are way-showers and expanders who can up-level my beliefs, my work, and my relationships.
Where do you feel you are holding yourself back with limiting stories and beliefs? Can you envision yourself living the life of your dreams? What does it look like, feel like, smell like? Who is around you? Where are you? What feeling do you feel when you are experiencing that? That is actually what you are looking for the feeling. I know people who have more money than God and still live in such a lack mentality. They do not feel abundant at all and are afraid every day of losing everything.
We can practice feeling that abundance today for the little and big things. Right now, I am feeling so grateful for Fern sitting on my lap and kissing my hand as I try to type this. For my dear Eric and how hard he was making me laugh early this morning dancing and singing, for a piece of my fav chocolate I just ate from Honey Mamas. For getting to fly home for 48 hours on Thursday to see my 2 nephews play against each other in basketball (I am the ONLY non-competitive human in my family. I want everyone to win always!) At one point in the game I told Eric I was stressed because the game was so close and he goes, “Babe, no stress, you know your team is going to win!” Hehe I wanted them both to win! I am so grateful for the precious time with my family.
How can you practice feeling abundant right now?!? Can you feel it in your body? What is the positive opposite of your limiting belief? I would love it if you would share them here.
I love you all and am so deeply grateful for each and every one of you. I have some really fun things in store for this community coming up in 2025. I want to love on you like crazy and for you to feel how obsessed the universe is with you! Love love love, Ruthie
